The Keep Fit class is based on Rhythmic Movement, flowing through the whole body
when even a simple swing is felt from top to toe including breath control, stretching
and relaxing. Piano music is adapted to assist movement, and allows the leader to
help the class with suitable rhythms or alter the routine.
Swinging, stepping, stretching and twisting are helped by the use of scarves, bean bags, hoops and clubs (the latter not always popular!).
Relaxation and spinal movements are achieved on the floor and are included in each session. Chair exercises are also a part, when it is proved that even sitting down, a body can move every muscle twisting, stretching and stepping.
It is essential for good health to keep mobile whatever your age, allowing a good circulation of blood. Tension causes blood vessels to close which in turn causes aches and pains.
It is a mature class lead by a qualified leader, taking movement seriously. It does, however, have an extremely friendly and social atmosphere. When things go wrong there is a great deal of banter and laughter (another essential ingredient for good health).
Dancing brings the morning's efforts to a happy conclusion, and a chat over coffee completes the enjoyment.
