Meetings

 

We have a monthly meeting, usually with a speaker, on the 3rd Monday of the month commencing at 2.30pm at the Larruperz Centre, Grammar School Close, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, HR9 7AQ along with various social meetings and outings throughout the year.

 

For more information please contact the Membership Secretary. Alternatively, come along to our next monthly meeting as a visitor.

 

If you are attending a meeting for the first time, you are invited to identify yourself to the Chairman or to someone on the Committee (who will be wearing a badge).

Please have your Membership Card with you and sign in when you arrive, for safety and security reasons. A list of names will be displayed on a table at the entrance to the hall.

20 September British Civil Gallantry Life saving awards - Edward Besly

Edward is a numismatist at the National Museum of Wales and will give a talk on British civil gallantry (i.e., life-saving) awards – tracing their evolution from private awards to official medals such as the Albert, Edward and George Medals, using the personal stories behind their collection, which are fascinating.

18 October The Life and Voice of Kathleen Ferrier - Christopher Fifield

Christopher’s talk on this iconic singer has proved immensely popular.  He is a professional conductor and music historian.

15 NovemberQuaint and Quirky Gloucestershire - Gordon Ottewell

Gordon is a very experienced lecturer who has written many books on countryside exploration.

Loop

The Larruperz Centre has a ?loop? system to assist you if you wear a hearing aid. If you would like it to be switched on please let them know in advance so that arrangements can be made.

Bring and buy books and jigsaws

Paperback books, jigsaws, CDs, DVDs, audion and video cassettes are available to purchase at the meetings - you bring along a book/s that you have enjoyed and choose others to buy for 50p each. Proceeds go towards U3A general expenses.

Reading

Mature Times:

A copy of the monthly newsletter ?Mature Times? which bylines itself as ?The Voice of Your Generation? will be freely available to those who attend the monthly meeting.
